SynchroNice / Third Edition / 2018
SYNCHRO NICE 35 Autumn Cup is a new ISU competition but, very early in the season. While most teams aren’t even ready fitting the new dresses, some others are ready and well prepared for their first performance. Honesty however, forces us to admit that the teams who are ready are an absolute minority and that’s a shame. Therefore, it’s very difficult for any organizing committee to realize a fully stacked competition with many teams this time of the year. Autumn Cup was almost cancelled because the lack of interested teams and in Zagreb they unfortunately had to stop their attempt to organize the Zagreb’s Snowflake Trophy in December due to lack of participants. Such a shame. One of the steps Synchronized Skating must take to evolve and grow is to extend the season. Of course, there are all kinds off practical problems that stand in the way of such an extension. Practice ice is not available everywhere, skaters are not back from holidays or teams are incomplete, dresses aren’t ready yet, and who will pay for the costs in case of an extra competition, and so on, and so on. However, if we want to receive Autumn Cup Granada 2017 Warm and Sunny Spain, not necessarily a country that first comes to mind, when you want to organize a Skating competition. Still the Spanish do have some perfect venues over there and it was in Andalusian’s breath-taking beautiful Granada where we witnessed the first Autumn Cup ever.
