SYNCHRO NICE 141 In early editions of the Mozart Cup where the OC used to have a hard time getting teams to come and compete in Salzburg, the OC never made a secret of their hopes & wishes that more teams would enter the Mozart Cup. Now Mr. Buchanan, pointing at the enormous pile of work that comes with almost 90 teams, turned to Carmen & Therese and said, “You better be careful what you wish for”. Nevertheless, 89 teams joined the 2018 edition of the Mozart Cup, where Synchrophoto.eu covered only the first 2 days (ISU Categories) of this 3-day event. With an event like this, your timetable has to be executed very strictly and precisely and if you allow us to compliment you, we thought it was even executed with military precision… Hats of to you… like clockwork. In Senior, teams of high standard that need no further introduction like Skyliners, Les Supremes and other heavy weights, were going to guarantee us an exciting & fierce competition. In Junior, the battle was going to be enormous, with the 2 Russian teams Junost & Chrystal Ice clearly in a favourite position to win. We weren’t disappointed, it was exciting from the first skater that set blade on ice, until the final Showdown on Saturday evening. However, no matter how fierce the battle may have been… after the prize ceremony and after the traditional Olympic rings, that are formed as a gesture towards the Olympic committee, it’s just wonderful and touching to see how these kids and young adults all start hugging each other and search for befriended Synchro Skaters from other parts of the world.
