1 THE SMILING JUDGE Weagreedtomeet inSamobor,acharming village not far from Zagreb. The sun was at its highest and the local thermometer showed us almost 30 degrees Celsius. Lovely Croatia, well known and loved within Europe for its beautiful summers, greatbeachesanddelicious food.Looking over the fully occupied terraces, we spotted him immediately, dark glasses, cigarette in his waving hand and smiling like always. We’re talking to ISU Judge Josip Cerovac. “Josko”, to his Croatian friends, is certainly among the most sympathe- tic ISU Judges we met within Synchro Skating over the years. Some judges have been around Synchro longer than others. Josko is, let’s say, one of the early adopters and started his Synchro Judging career in 2007 at the Junior Worlds in London, Ontario, Canada. Shortly prior to this competition, he passed his exams as a Synchro Judge after already having a long history of judging in figure skating. SYNCHRO NICE
