Club (HTK). And yesssss… we made the cut and started skating in the advanced novice team, Finettes. It was like a dream come true as we had always admired Team Fintastic and Helsinki Rockettes when we were young and now, we are both skating for Team Fintastic and we are living the dream. You look so much alike, you must be identical twins? We are not identical twins, but we look pretty similar. At first it might be difficult to tell us apart, but all our teammates can recognize us now. When we sometimes talk about it nowadays, they can’t understand why they couldn’t recognize us from the very start! Our coaches might still mix us up at times, but our Head Coach Milja…she’s becoming very good at recognizing us - well done Milja! Are the 2 of you equally good at skating? We are both pretty similar skaters, but we do have our own smaller specialties on ice! One specialty that we share is a beautiful and flexible spiral. We are very similar, and we do think alike, because we spend so much time together. But we also have differ ent opinions and sometimes they lead to arguments, because being a twin includes always wanting to be correct in everything! If applicable I always ask whether it’s nice to have a brother or sister in the same team, but what’s it like having a twin in the same team? Having a twin on the same team has many good sides, because we are able to share so many wonderful and amazing experiences together. We are both very competitive and that is why we train very hard to become better. We think that we do not compare each other too much on ice, but we guess it is quite natural that we both want to be better than the other one. In the end we always support and cheer for each other so that we’ll improve our skating skills and advance in this sport. What’s it like to skate for a renowned team like Fin- tastic? Skating for Team Fintastic is both amazing and at the same time, very hard as well! The objectives are always set high and the team works tremendously hard to achieve all these high standards and goals! This season our team really strives towards achieving the very highest goals that there are to be achieved; qualifying for and succeeding in Junior Worlds and win ning the Finnish National Championship. We train hard, but we still remember to have fun and enjoy every sec ond on the ice together. And your personal goals? For the both of us, our biggest goal in the future would be to skate for Helsinki Rockettes in Seniors and eventually even win gold at the World Championships! Keeping up with this high standard is very demanding, do you have any time left for your social life? Finding the right balance between high level sports and our so cial lives has been a struggle for both of us. It has been very difficult to find time for everything. Now we have noticed that the key is to simply skip the things that aren’t meaningful and important to us and just focus on the things in life that make us happy. It really sounds like a pretty cliché but growing up as athletes with very little free time, we keep this in mind and remind one another to honor the smallest things we have in life. WE JUST FOCUS ON THE THINGS IN LIFE THAT MAKE US HAPPY SYNCHRO NICE 141
